" SOMEWHERE (abridged version) SOMEWHERE: A HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL. Kristallnacht 1938 and the SS St. Louis voyage to Havana,Cuba in 1939. More than 900 jews on a ship bound for Cuba with valid landing permits were denied entry and forced to return to Europe. Many of them perished in the nazi concentration camps. After the war, a Holocaust Memorial was erected at the Jewish cemetery in Havana with the following description: Honrando la memoria En este lugar estan enterradas varias pastillas de jabon hechas de grasas humanas hebreas parte de los seis millones victimas de la barbarie nazi ocurrido en el siglo vdeinte Paz a sus restos. Translation: "Here are buried several bars of soap made from human fat of jews part of the six million victims of nazi cruelty which took place in the twentieth century. Rest in peace.
